Hanayama Huzzle Devil — Difficulty Level 5 (Hard)

Named for good reason. Devil is one of the puzzles regular Hanayama solvers warn newcomers about — not because it's the hardest in the range, but because it gives so little feedback. Pieces move, nothing happens, repeat.

The solve depends on abandoning the approach that feels most natural. Almost everyone spends their first session doing the wrong thing very thoroughly.

Worth knowing

This is not a beginner puzzle and it isn't a good first gift. If you're buying for someone who's new to cast puzzles, Level 2 or 3 will be far more rewarding. Buy Devil for the person who's already solved a handful and complained they were too easy.
